From the people building memoratu
Notes on why we are building a todo app this way, and what the decisions underneath it actually buy you.
There is no such thing as a loose todo
Most todo apps quietly allow a task to belong to nothing at all. We removed that state, and it turned out to settle a surprising number of other arguments.
The terminal came first
The first thing that could create a todo in memoratu was not an app. It was a command line — and that was a decision about architecture, not taste.
Ids are made on the device, not the server
The server never hands out an id. Every todo is named by the device that created it, in the moment it is created — which is the only way offline capture can work honestly.
There is an RSS feed if you would rather be told than check.
